Press Kit: Meetings

The Claremont Resort & Spa -- a San Francisco Bay landmark located in the Berkeley Hills, just 12 miles from downtown San Francisco -- is the perfect location for meeting planners looking to enjoy the quiet lull of small town with a booming metropolis twinkling nearby. When business calls for a flexible meeting environment with all of the conveniences and amenities of a luxury resort, The Claremont has a long history of filling the need.

Nowhere else will meeting planners find such gracious service, built upon a rich historic foundation. Since opening in 1915, The Claremont is one of the nation’s Grand meeting resorts, hosting heads of state, captains of industry and Hollywood celebrities.

With 28,000-square-feet of meeting space in 21 rooms, many with natural lighting and sweeping views of San Francisco Bay, The Claremont offers a one-of-a-kind meeting experience. The Claremont’s well-trained staff work in tandem with meeting planners to ensure meetings and conferences are executed flawlessly. From designing custom menus featuring healthy “lifestyle cuisine” and organizing private exercise classes to seeing that messages are properly delivered, no detail is overlooked.

High Tech Space in a Variety of Settings
Meeting space at The Claremont includes two large high ballrooms, a living-room-style meeting room, a boardroom and 21 smaller conference rooms. One distinctive venue is The Claremont Ballroom, which offers a formal, theatrical stage for multi-media productions.

Leading the meeting industry trend of “soft seating” is The Claremont’s living-room-style meeting room, with lounge chairs, couches, coffee and end tables and other homey accents. It creates a relaxed forum for “think sessions,” including creative brainstorms and high-level strategic planning. The living room offers all necessary business equipment, including high speed internet access and wireless capability, 48” TV with DVD player, combination laser-quality copier, fax and printer, five speaker phones, stereo system and numerous power and data outlets.

The Cabernet Room is tailored for those seeking a more formal meeting setting. This room is outfitted with a custom conference table containing a center raceway that provides power, voice and data outlets, 14 high back swivel arm chairs, a visual board with printer, Panasonic panaboard, pulldown projection screen, television and DVD player, two speaker phones and a stereo system.

Guests now have one more reason to connect with The Claremont – high-speed and wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) Internet access. The Claremont has equipped all guestrooms and meeting facilities with high-speed T-1 and WI-Fi Internet access. In addition, a wireless connection is available throughout all public spaces.

Creative Recharging Before, After and Mid-Meeting
The Claremont’s Fitness Break options, known as GroupTrek, offer an alternative to the traditional coffee break. The program features an array of team-building exercises, spa programs, destination trips, productivity boosters and tasty food options designed to heighten the energy level in any work environment. It includes twelve 10-15 minute refreshers, such as an Energizing Stretch & Breathing Break, Desk Drumming, Harnessing Chaos, Partner Stretch and Managing Your Energy. A permanent Ropes Course on the grounds of The Claremont is available for team-building exercises. Groups can also take an invigorating outdoor break called a Fit Walk and enjoy a brisk tour of the property’s lovely gardens, pools and other local points of interest. Meeting planners can choose from aerobics, yoga, indoor cycling, world rhythms, Pilates, Rx for headaches, and many other classes, including private classes which can be arranged and customized to fit the content of the day’s affairs.

Spa Groups
The 20,000-square-foot Claremont Spa, which boasts "Signature Journey" spa treatments from around the world, is an ideal incentive for meeting attendees to relax and rejuvenate between long mornings and afternoons in the boardroom. What golf has been to the business world in recent years, so now are spa outings. The Claremont Spa offers separate men's and women's facilities, each with a complete hydrotherapy circuit, 32 treatment rooms (for massage, facials, body scrubs), breathtaking views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Area and an expert staff of fitness, mind/body and massage therapists. The Claremont Spa meetings expert helps design a Spa schedule to suit all individual needs.

Spousal Programs
As if that’s not enough, The Claremont also offers Spousal Programs for visitors not involved in the meeting. Whether it’s a neighborhood walking tour, shopping at San Francisco’s Union Square, a style and fashion consultation with Living Well advisor Anthea Tolomei, or a choice of five nearby golf clubs, there is plenty to do between meetings at The Claremont.

The Claremont Experience
Born of a “golden” era, The Claremont Resort & Spa is perched majestically on a pristine mountainside in the Berkeley Hills, standing watch over the glistening Golden Gates of San Francisco Bay. Whether guests choose to partake in a fine meal and expertly poured cocktail at AAA Four-Diamond Jordan’s or casual Paragon Bar & Café, indulge in a “journey” from around the world in the 20,000 square-foot Claremont Spa -- named one of the nation’s top spas by Elle and Vogue magazines -- or spend the afternoon poolside at The Claremont Club bathed in rays that once tanned Barrymore and Garbo, this classic landmark is defined through its culture and distinctive atmosphere. The Claremont is a tradition, an entitlement of generations and America’s quintessential grand resort: its 279 uniquely designed rooms have a AAA Four-Diamond status where guests luxuriate in the famously captivating bay views enticing them to explore San Francisco and California’s wine country.
