Press Kit: Club at The Claremont
The Club at the Claremont, a 25,000-square-foot mind and body fitness experience, recently received an extensive rejuvenation of its already illustrious facilities as it continues to uphold its reputation as one of the leading facilities in the fitness industry. Part of The Claremont Resort & Spa -- a San Francisco Bay landmark located in the Berkeley Hills -- The Club at The Claremont seamlessly blends tradition with innovation by continuing to unify the history of a 40-year old membership with the enthusiasm and energy of young families beginning new traditions. Guests become members of the private Club at The Claremont during their stay and enjoy exclusive access to an array of newly renovated amenities. With the addition of innovative full circuit weight machines by Technogym – the official equipment of the 2008 Beijing Olympics - and 33 pieces of cardio equipment with LCD touch screens, The Club at Claremont is the epitome of what fitness should be. Furthermore, a newly dedicated room for award-winning Kinesis free-motion exercise equipment will take total body wellness to a new level for guests. In addition to nearly half a million dollars in unparalleled equipment, The Club also has new walls, flooring, six flat screen televisions and has been tastefully redecorated in earthy hues that evoke serenity and rejuvenation. Eight tennis courts were recently resurfaced in support of The Club’s national caliber tennis program. . The fitness facility is unmatched with computerized aerobic equipment, a multi-purpose aerobic room, weight machines, a Somatic Arts room, Pilates equipment, and more than 66 mind and body fitness classes weekly, ranging from low-impact aerobics to yoga and dance. With the addition of “Kinesis,” The Club at Claremont remains on the cutting edge of fitness trends. Kinesis, a new state-of-the-art functional training system from Italy, incorporates a variety of stretching and resistance training exercises, which burns 30 percent more calories than traditional machines. The sprawling aquatic area is the finest in the area with two heated lap and recreational swimming pools, children’s wading area, jet-stream whirlpool hot tub and four saunas. The Claremont donated all previous cardio, strength and free-weight equipment to a local non-profit, Alameda County Medical Center. The somatic arts practitioners who make up the fitness team at The Club have developed a unique program called Restorative Fitness that offers leading edge techniques like one-on-one yoga, therapeutic AI (active-isolated) stretch, Pilates-based conditioning, core strength weight training and hands-on bodywork. The Restorative Fitness? approach is centered on fitness, healing, personal insights and strength of the mind and body together to improve breathing, increase flexibility and provide for high-energy living throughout the day. The Club at The Claremont’s 66 fitness classes per week are divided into three categories including Stillness, Fluidity and Muscular Conditioning. From typical Yoga and Pilates classes and cardio training to African Dance and Hula Lessons and aqua aerobics, the Club at the Claremont’s fitness schedule integrates the aspects of Restorative Fitness as necessary for any age or skill level. The Bay Area’s best outdoor family aquatic facility, The Club at The Claremont boasts two 25-meter heated swimming pools, including one Olympic sized lap pool, and one jet-stream whirlpool Jacuzzi. Families and friends relax among more than 250 lounge chairs on the pool deck used to film Mrs. Doubtfire.
